It was great to hear the point of view of someone who came fresh to the play, without any preconceptions, and I’m glad you picked up on so many of the details of the production. You are right about the end of the play, it is completely incomprehensible, given what has preceded it. I felt that Isabella, having started the play wishing to enter a nunnery, would find the Duke’s proposal rather a shock, indeed a “what the f….” moment.
I love this neglected play of Shakespeare’s and am so pleased you got so much out of it.
