The Return of the Dissertation

Got my dissertation back, today, and the comments were surprisingly positive. One tutor said he knew I could make this a ‘fine novel’ I just hadn’t quite got there, yet, but he’d seen evidence that I could do it in other work, hence how he knew I could, and the other said my improvement was encouraging. The external examiner pretty much told me to do what I’m doing at the moment (or intending to, anyway), although deciphering the scrawl was not easy. The only real disappointment was the complete lack of comments on the actual piece. Why do we have to make the margins so huge if you’re not going to use them? Also, what do you think we paid for? Use of the deficient library? I don’t think so.

However, the comments I did receive make me want to work on the novel. So far, I haven’t. Much. And I’m supposed to be doing NaNoWriMo. At this rate, I’ll end up doing 5k a day to finish. Still do-able, right? Well, if I didn’t have other things to do.

Even so, I’m excited!

Thanks St Andrews!
